Phishing Scam Alert
Posted March 19, 2026The New Jersey Judiciary has issued an alert regarding a phishing scam involving fraudulent “toll violation” messages that claim to be from the Newark Municipal Court. These messages may threaten a default judgment, fines and additional costs, and even notification to the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission in an attempt to pressure recipients into acting quickly.
- Do NOT scan the QR code or click any links included in the message.
- Avoid sharing personal or financial information in response to unsolicited texts, emails, or calls.
Valid traffic ticket payments can be made through NJMCDirect under “online tools” on the municipal court page at njcourts.gov.
